Placeholder. P&G's own diaper R&D once produced a working prototype that used real barrier-cream chemistry built directly into the diaper's topsheet — but it never reached the market, and 25 years later a Chinese challenger brand (babycare) shipped roughly the same idea as a genuine commercial first.
What we've found so far: Peer-reviewed clinical research (2000) documented reduced diaper dermatitis severity using a continuous barrier-cream topsheet; babycare's commercial cream-infused diaper launched decades later as an explicit market first.
Open research: FOIA or patent-search P&G's original research program to see why it was shelved; interview a P&G alum if possible; compare formulation approaches side-by-side.
